Boardman Valley Nature Preserve

Located less than 3 miles south of Traverse City, the Boardman Valley Nature Preserve covers about 90-acres stretching along the Boardman River and offers an easy 1.3 mile hiking & xc-skiing trail, picnic areas and several observation/fishing decks along the river.
There's a sandy beach are & a nice launch with a small dock on the East side of the tennis courts; follow the tree-line South along the ball fields to the trail head.

This trail is flat & hugs the river closely which means a few areas can be mucky after rains, but trail improvements are underway & will include boardwalks in addition to the bridges that are already in place.

This trail is called the Boardman Valley Trail & it connects to the Fox Den Trail; both are part of the Grand Traverse Natural Education Reserve trail system. Just downriver are the culverts that go under S Airport Rd & lead to Boardman Lake.

Parking & access is at the Y.M.C.A. on S Airport Rd at Logan's Landing.  (go South at the light on raquet Club Drive & follow it all the way to the back, staying left until you reach the Y) Restrooms are available inside the Y.M.C.A.

The Boardman Lake TART Trail can be accessed across the street at Medalie Park.  Use caution & only cross S Airport Rd at the crosswalk.
