The first launch site after the North & South branches of the Boardman River converge (just east of Supply Road) is aptly called the Forks. Owned by the state of Michigan, this launch is located adjacent to the Forks State Forest Campground on Brown Bridge Road, about .3 miles west of Supply Rd.

This is 1 of the busiest Boardman River access sites and parking is somewhat disorganized; very early in the morning; (great for wildlife viewing), weekdays and off-season are usually the least busy.
Parking is mostly shaded at the launch & there is a trash can & port-a-potty on site. (in season)
Overnight parking is NOT allowed at the launch.
The next public take-out point is at Schecks State Forest Campground, about 3.5 miles West on Brown Bridge Road (about 4.3 river miles).
Paddlers pass Ranch Rudolf but there is NO PUBLIC ACCESS at the Ranch; they are however, an excellent family run business. (lodge, restaurant, campground, horse livery small store & livery with canoe & tube rentals) The Ranch drops off most of their livery customers at Forks.
There are no trails at the Forks, but there are miles of hiking & biking trails nearby, including Muncie Lakes Pathway, the Vasa Pathway the North Country Trail & several others.
The campground and the campsites are very small (8 sites total) and most sites are situated at the edge of the Boardman River.
Each campsite has a picnic table & fire ring and there are 2 rustic outhouses, potable water from hand-pumps & a trash dumpster in season.
There are no reservations at this campground and no pull-through campsites. Only tents and the smallest trailers/RVs can be accommodated at Forks. There are larger sites at Scheck's, 3.5 miles west on Brown Bridge Rd.
* Camping fee: $13 per night (and a Michigan Recreation Passport)
*Fees subject to change (last update 2015)
